Maine Boats, Homes and Harbors Show

NEW BOAT A-BUILDING

Meet DragonFlyer 3.2 and follow our progress

We’re busy the shop building a
a completely new, seriously fun, and quite a bit different design
that we’ll be bringing to the Maine Boats, Homes, and Harbor show this year

(and, we hope, to the WoodenBoat Show next year.)

We’re designing this boat from the beginning to be available as a kit
(as well as built boats and, eventually, plans)
She is fun for everyone to build . . . and to sail.

This first boat will be our family boat.
The kids are all helping build Zip, and they can’t wait to sail her!
(Neither can we, and we have quite a group of friends,
young and older, who’ll be dropping by the shop,
and who are looking forward to launch day as well.)

We’re not sure where we’ll located at the show yet
though we know we’re on land, probably nearish the water
(when they tell us where our spot is we’ll post that here.)

But you’ll have no problem:

to find us at the show, just look on land for the black boat
with red (really truly honestly red) sails (main & jib)
carrying a black flying dragon.

We’ll be posting more on the design and regular updates as she comes along.
Here are a couple of photos from the early stages.

When we’re not in the shop, we’re working on some new “other” things,
including John’s papercraft airplane designs:

F-22 cutting out
F-22 fuselage

This is a prototype version of the John’s F-22. He took one
to the Maine Boatbuilder’s Show last year and had more fun
than one should flying it in the huge almost-empty building after the show.
We’ll have these amazing planes at the MBHH show;
we’ll see how far we can fly them (they go like you wouldn’t believe!)

It’s going to be a fun show. Looking forward to it! Hope to see you there.
